Seldom do my snack food names conjour up images of Shakespearian characters, but that’s what a Midnight Reverie sounds like to me. (ENTER MIDNIGHT REVERIE DRESSED IN LAYMAN CLOTHING): Hark, doth though protest the conching of these noble snack feasts, My Lord?
But are they intense, Rod? Yes, but not in a Mountain Dew Doritos Taco Bell hybrid taco soda sort of way. It’s more of a “wait, this is chocolate?” intensity. This is chocolate in pretty much its purest form (none of that pesky sugar added) via the cocoa bean. It’s an acquired taste for sure, but I’ve made the acquisition, and there are two main reasons why:
- This stuff is actually healthy, and you won’t want to pig out on it. Heart healthy, folks… it’s basically like eating heart medication. I’m even going to classify these under health food reviews on the website. I think it tastes pretty good, but without the truckload of added sugar, I’m content eating one square at a time.
- Individually wrapped pieces make these feel extra special. M&Ms are great, but they’re not going to be individually wrapped anytime soon. Opening these is like Christmas morning, every single night. Sure, it’s the same gift every time, but when it’s a gift of health packed in a chocolate square, that’s fine by me.
