Shock Top Raspberry Wheat Beer

Shock Top Raspberry Wheat Beer

Beer in a snack review? Yep. I am that crazy. I’ve already espoused my belief that a drink can most certainly qualify as a snack. And if any beer can qualify as a snack, this one would qualify. It is sweet, but not so sweet as a cider or hard lemonade. Its not even as sweet as a proper fruit lambic/framboise (a fruit beer that can be as sweet as Kool Aide).

I am a big fan of a nice framboise (again, a fruit beer that can be as sweet as Kool Aide), but those things can be expensive.  I would say that Shock Top Raspberry Wheat is sort of a poor man’s raspberry lambic. A six pack was among the cheaper ones at my grocery store. The flavor is admittedly artificial, and my taste buds can sense that. Sill for the price it’s a reasonable approximation.

Shock Top Raspberry Wheat, is a “Belgain-style Wheat Ale Brewed with Citrus Peels and Coriander with Natural Raspberry flavor added.” I am sure beer aficionados would laugh at it. As a beer, it’s probably on the lower end of sophistication and hipness, what with all of the fancy craft beers nowadays. But as a snack, Shock Top Raspberry Wheat is pretty tasty. Its sweet and goes down easily.
